| Artist Biography
Beth Dean began painting as a child. She studied under many local artists and was classically trained in her fine arts education. She holds a B.A. in Interior Design, and elected emphasis in Renaissance Art History. After college, Beth put painting aside to pursue a highly successful interior design career for over 20 years. Always vowing to "go back to painting", Beth committed herself to fulfilling that desire in 2000.
Beth paints in oils on masonite and canvas. Her works include landscapes, European scenery, beach scenes and still lifes. Her impressionistic paintings are done working “alla prima”, wet into wet. She paints whenever possible “en plein air”, a technique where a painting is completed on location rather than from photographs . Beth possesses an eidetic memory, which is a unique ability to accurately and vividly recall color and visual images previously seen. This talent energizes her paintings with light and color when she is working from photographs or from plein air studies in her studio. She regularly attends workshops, studying under nationally recognized artists to continually expand her education.
Beth currently resides on a lake in Madison County, Mississippi, with her architect husband, Richard, their two sons, her father, two dogs and one cat.
